Little Miss & Mr Kenya Festival

Where Confidence Begins

Before there is a crown...

There is courage.

Before there is applause...

There is belief.

Before a child stands confidently before the world...

Someone first gives them an opportunity to believe in themselves.

Little Miss & Mr Kenya Festival was created to become that opportunity.

For more than a decade, children from across Kenya have discovered confidence, leadership, creativity, environmental responsibility and lifelong friendships through an experience that celebrates every child’s unique potential.

This has never been about finding the “best” child.

It has always been about helping every child become the very best version of themselves.

Welcome to the festival where confidence begins.

I never wanted to create a pageant.

I wanted to create a festival.

A day where every child, no matter how shy, how quiet or how small their first step, would be celebrated.

— Tinah Lughano

Where the movement began

The Beginning

How One Child Inspired A Movement

Kids Tiaras began with one little girl.

At two years old, her mother noticed she was naturally shy and began searching for ways to build her confidence.

That search became a vision.

In 2013, seven children gathered for the very first Little Miss & Mr Kenya Festival.

One of them was that little girl.

What began as one mother’s desire to help her daughter would eventually become a movement that has transformed the lives of children across Kenya and beyond.

More Than A Crown

Little Miss & Mr Kenya has never been about crowns.

The crown is only a symbol.

What children truly take home is confidence.

  • The courage to introduce themselves.
  • The confidence to stand before others.
  • The belief that their voice matters.
  • The friendships they build.
  • The memories they create.
  • The dreams they begin believing are possible.

That is what we celebrate.

Why We Call It A Festival

People often ask why we call Little Miss & Mr Kenya a festival instead of a pageant.

The answer is simple.

A pageant often celebrates a winner.

A festival celebrates everyone.

From the child confidently introducing themselves for the first time...

To the child whose voice shakes but chooses courage anyway...

To the child discovering a hidden talent...

Every step deserves to be celebrated.

That is why, from the very beginning, this has always been a festival.

Because every child who chooses courage has already achieved something worth celebrating.

The Eco Project

The Eco Project

Thinking Creatively About The Planet

One of the most unique parts of Little Miss & Mr Kenya is the Eco Project Presentation.

Introduced in 2015, it encourages children to think creatively about protecting the environment and becoming responsible citizens.

Children do not simply learn about environmental conservation.

They develop ideas.

They solve problems.

They inspire families and communities.

This category later inspired the birth of Green Kids Awards.

Beyond Kenya

Little Miss & Mr Kenya has opened doors for children to participate internationally, building confidence, cultural understanding and global friendships.

These opportunities remind children that their dreams are not limited by geography.
