Every great journey begins with believing in one child.
It All Began With One Little Girl.
In 2013, the founder of Kids Tiaras noticed something many parents experience but few truly understand.
Her two-year-old daughter was naturally shy. Like every parent, she wanted her daughter to grow into a confident, happy and courageous young person.
She began searching for opportunities that would help her build confidence, communicate freely and believe in herself.
What she discovered was not a solution. It was a gap. There were very few platforms intentionally designed to nurture confidence, leadership and personal growth in children.
That single discovery planted the seed that would later become Kids Tiaras.
Sometimes changing the world begins with helping one child believe in themselves.
Seven Children, One Dream
The first Kids Tiaras event was held in 2013. Only seven children participated. One of them was the founder’s own daughter.
A small venue along Kiambu Road became the birthplace of what would eventually grow into one of Kenya’s leading child development ecosystems.
There were no sponsors. No major partners. No marketing experience. Every expense was personally funded through savings, because the vision mattered more than the challenges.
The greatest obstacle was convincing parents that the programme was about much more than appearances. It was about building confidence.
When Children Began to Change
After every competition, something remarkable began happening. Parents returned with stories.
Children who had been quiet were now speaking confidently. Those who had struggled with self-esteem were beginning to believe in themselves.
Teachers reported improved classroom participation. Academic performance improved.
Children who had never celebrated success before discovered what it felt like to achieve something meaningful.
These stories confirmed that Kids Tiaras had become much more than an annual competition. It was transforming lives.
More Than Crowns
By 2015, it became clear that many children needed more than a competition. They needed guidance. Mentorship. Life skills. Confidence coaching.
The founder began developing a structured confidence-building curriculum specifically for children.
In 2016, every participant received a personal workbook and attended a five-day coaching programme before the competition. Kids Tiaras became a place where children were coached before they were celebrated.
To strengthen this vision, the founder later became a certified Level 2 Kids Life Coach, ensuring every programme would be built upon proven child development principles.
A World of Opportunities
As children continued growing, new interests emerged. Dance. Creative arts. Leadership. Public speaking.
Schools began requesting programmes beyond the annual competition. Weekend sessions evolved into structured extracurricular programmes delivered in schools.
During the global rise of digital creativity and dance, interest in performing arts grew rapidly. This inspired the creation of the Royal International Dance Competition — a professional platform where young dancers could showcase their creativity, discipline and passion.
In 2025, the programme expanded further with Level Two competitions and international workshops, creating opportunities for children to learn from global experts in dance and music while experiencing new cultures.
Thinking Beyond Borders
International exposure has always been a key part of the Kids Tiaras vision.
In 2016, children from Little Miss & Mr Kenya represented the country internationally for the first time in Greece.
Since then, international learning experiences have continued to expand. Every journey is designed around specialised workshops where children develop practical skills before participating in carefully selected educational, cultural and experiential activities.
These experiences inspire children to think globally while remaining proud of their African identity.
The Birth of Green Kids
Environmental conservation has been part of Little Miss & Mr Kenya since 2015 through the Eco Project Presentation category.
The belief was simple. If children learn to protect the environment early in life, they will influence families, schools and entire communities.
In 2017, one participant qualified as a finalist in the Children’s Climate Prize in Sweden through an innovative recycling project.
That journey home would change everything.
“During our flight back from Sweden, Green Kids Awards was born.”
The Turning Point
Kenyan children deserved a platform dedicated entirely to environmental innovation. That vision became the Green Kids Awards.
Today, children use creativity, research, technology and presentations to propose practical solutions to climate challenges while inspiring their communities to protect the planet.
Discovering Every Child's Talent
One question continued to be asked by parents: “How do I discover my child’s true talent?”
That question inspired the creation of the Talent Identity Assessment.
By combining observation, coaching and modern assessment methods, Kids Tiaras now helps families better understand every child’s unique strengths, learning style and future development pathway.
Our Dream
“We dream of a future where the leaders shaping Kenya, Africa and the world are children who once discovered their confidence through Kids Tiaras.”
Not because they wore a crown.
Not because they won a competition.
But because they learned to lead their own lives.
That is the legacy we are building.
Not measured by the number of events we organise, but by the number of lives we transform.
Not by titles won, but by character developed.
Not by applause received today, but by the leaders who will shape tomorrow.
